Richard grew up in a small community in Gilmer County, WV. At a young age he began developing a love for God. Out of this love came a love for preachers and preaching.
In 1968, Richard married Sandra Brady and they have three children Michael of Barrackville, WV, Kristina of Benton, KY, and Kerri of Mechanicsville, MD.
He began preaching in 1979 and has preached in Churches of Christ in WV, OH, PA, and MD.
Richard graduated from Normantown High School and attended Glenville State College. He also audits classes from Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, TX and World Video Bible School in Maxwell, TX.
Once a year, Richard attends Polishing the Pulpit Lectureship and Columbia Bible Institute for a week of intense study.
